Combination Building Inspector

Botetourt County is currently accepting applications to fill the position of Combination Building Inspector.  This is a full-time position with excellent benefits, including state retirement.

The successful applicant must be experienced in the following areas:

• 3-5 years of experience in general building construction, material, practices, and methods of design
• General knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, gas, or electrical systems
• Ability to detect structural and other faults and to recommend their correction
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and blueprints accurately and to compare them to construction in progress
• Ability to perform residential and/or commercial plan reviews and prepare correction lists
