JOB DESCRIPTION

Corporate Sponsorship Representative Responsibilities
  • Contribute to WDAV fundraising goals by securing business and nonprofit sponsors for station programming, newsletters, social media, websites, and events.
  • Grow station revenue by developing new underwriters by researching prospects, cold calling, and building relationships at networking events and outside meetings.
  • Communicate the value of sponsoring station content by preparing proposals which highlight the quantitative and qualitative aspects of WDAV's audience that are relevant to the underwriter, as well as the effectiveness of radio, email, web, and events as vehicles for promotion.
  • Ensure the precise execution of underwriting contracts by shepherding the post-sale order fulfillment process. This includes entering underwriting contracts into the sales trafficking system, copy creation, copy scheduling, digital asset procurement, and fulfillment of any other contracted deliverables.
  • Contribute to the success of station events by selling sponsorships, assisting in planning, and participating in day-of execution.
  • Contribute, execute, and provide updates to a plan of action for attaining goals created by the underwriting and management teams. Prepares forecasts to reach goals, and attends all sales meetings and other scheduled appointments set by WDAV management.
  • Invoicing and securing collection of unpaid underwriting invoices is necessary at times.      
  • Work cross-departmentally with Programming, Marketing, and Digital, to achieve station goals and ensure all promised contract deliverables are met.
  • Promote a collegial, cooperative atmosphere by participating in Davidson College - College Relations division trainings, meetings, retreats, and other events and committees as needed.
  • Contribute to the collaborative culture of WDAV by enthusiastically offering ideas, time, and support to other WDAV colleagues.

  • Adaptable/flexible personality that demonstrates an ability to prioritize and re-prioritize gracefully, based on the quickly changing needs of the organization - especially during busy seasons.
  • Inclination toward noticing when a business practice or process could be improved and confidence to share those observations and offer potential solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in sales or nonprofit fundraising. Experience selling for public or commercial media is a plus.
  • Equivalent or other relevant experience will be considered.
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred, but not required.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation is a must. The Corporate Sponsorship Representative is expected to travel to meet with clients and prospects.
Preferred Skills & Abilities
  • Experience entering orders into an ad-trafficking system (ex. Wide Orbit Traffic)
  • Experience prospecting and cold-calling business
  • Public Radio or non-profit experience strongly preferred
  • While a deep knowledge of classical music is not required, it is helpful.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products, Outlook, Zoom, Google Drive, Canva, or related tools
