Job Description

The chief objective of the position is to provide administrative and fiscal support to the director, faculty, and other researchers of the Center for Bioelectrics.

Type of Recruitment

Knowledge, skills and abilities

Working knowledge of financial budgeting and/or accounting/general ledger experience.
Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and their application to fund accounting.Working knowledge in using automated financial systems.Working knowledge of office management procedures and equipment.Some knowledge of basic statistics.
Considerable office management, clerical, and data entry skills.Effective oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of constituents employing excellent interpersonal communication skills.Demonstrated ability to analyze, research and compile complex data and develop compile summaries from a variety of fiscal reports.
Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment and interpret administrative policies and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to review, summarize, prioritize, and expedite daily work issues within efficient time frames.Demonstrated ability to use a variety of PC-based word processing and spreadsheet software such as MS Excel, MS Access, MS Word, to record, reconcile, monitor and report data.

Level and type of experience

Some related work experience in budgeting and/or financial accounting/general ledger performing complex and comprehensive fiscal review and reporting.Some experience in office management procedures.Some related experience in budget, procurement, and acquisition.

Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)

Considerable experience in a higher education environment.Experience working in a scientific laboratory setting.Considerable experience using Commonwealth Accounting Reporting System (CARS).Some experience using Banner.Demonstrated knowledge of ODU and ODURF procedures and regulations, including procurement, facilities management, human resources, travel, IT, etc.
BS degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CPA desirable.

Conditions of Employment

Annual Salary/Hourly Rate

Salary range between $ - 31,886 - $45,000
