Located in Carlsbad, New Mexico, Southeast New Mexico College (SENMC) is a newly independent public community college accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Purpose and Scope:

The Admissions Advisor will report to the Enrollment Manager and will be responsible for recruitment, admissions, and enrollment functions to include marketing and communications for enrollment, provides academic, financial aid/scholarship, financial literacy, and advisement services to targeted student populations. Plans, develops, and implements community outreach activities and/or campus recruitment and/or retention programs. Serves as an ambassador and representative of the SENMC College with a variety of audiences, including prospective students and their families, applicants, newly admitted students, P-12 school district students and staff, SENMC college students, faculty and staff, business and other community members, and alumni. Responsible for managing recruitment territory with some travel throughout the state. Guides prospective students and their families through the application process. Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with key constituencies in recruitment territory. Responsible for assisting with all areas of admissions. Responsible for marketing and communications, event planning, student orientation, campus tours, family engagement activities, and campus visits, etc. as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborate to develop communications strategies for enrollment aligning with SENMC strategic plan. Develop and create direct communication plans for prospective students, example: emails, texts, and phone campaigns. Distribute marketing materials for recruitment efforts. Coordinate with Marketing Director and Web Designer to manage the digital content such as websites, social media, press releases, podcasts, infographics, videos, etc. as they relate to the purpose and scope of this position. Utilize analytic tools for data collection and analysis of aggregate and disaggregate to track strategy effectiveness and drive recruiting decisions. Prepares form letters, individual letters, and information packets in support of group and/or individual recruitment efforts; attends and participates in individual and group orientation and other information dissemination sessions.
Engage and assist prospective students from lead through to admissions. Coordinate with other organizational units to process admission requests and to aid in resolution of academic problems. Maintain familiarity with certificate and degree programs. Advises students and families regarding educational opportunities and options, admission, orientation, registration, and other requirements, policies, and procedures. Provides policy interpretation and advisement as appropriate, in accordance with SENMC policy, accreditation standards, and privacy laws.
Answers student inquiries and resolves problems related to curriculum and course prerequisites for designated academic programs referring to catalogues, written course descriptions, and other appropriate sources. Plans, develops, and implements community outreach activities for underrepresented student populations. May conduct recruitment activities for targeted student populations. Some travel may be required, depending on recruitment territory assignment. Will coordinate with Dual Credit staff for weekly visits to area high schools.

Conduct campus tours, formal and informal presentations, tele-recruiting, and e-recruiting. Collaborate with SENMC campus departments, faculty & staff. Disseminates pertinent information, in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and SENMC policies in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Direct students to campus and community services including but not limited to Financial Aid, Learning Assistance Center, Learning Technology Center, and Testing Center. Serve on campus committees.

Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. May assist and/or prepare grant proposals to fund student programs and services.

Knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques. Knowledge of marketing media and funding sources. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials. Knowledge and understanding of principles, procedures, regulations, and standards applicable to the job. Understanding of the College's mission, vision, and goals. Short- and long-term planning; problem analysis and resolution; ability to gather data, compile information report preparation and presentation; interpersonal and organizational communication, both oral and written. Develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative; organize and direct activities.
