Equipment Operator III - Concrete F/T
- General Definition of Work
This position will perform advanced skills using a variety of heavy construction equipment. Advanced skilled tasks include, but not limited to; excavating for new utility lines, sidewalks, curb and gutter, parking lots, and roadways to correct grade: excavating around utility lines with minimal clearance without causing damage: and operating in rights-of-way next to moving traffic. Qualified applicants must be experienced and skilled in tasks related to concrete construction and general street maintenance. This position will act as a supervisor in the absence of the crew supervisor. This position will assists with snow removal operations and seasonal collection services

Days and Hours of Work
April 1st through August 31st: Monday through Thursday from 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM
September 1st through March 31st: Monday through Friday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or GED is required, as well as a minimum of four year’s related construction experience
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Skilled in the operation of heavy equipment and have knowledge of standard construction practices and principles; ability to place and finish concrete; thorough knowledge of VDOT work zone requirements and the ability to safely work in and around the roadway; skill in the use various hand tools and construction equipment; ability to operate a dump truck with snow plow during snow removal operations
Special Requirements
A valid Virginia Commercial Driver’s License – Class A and an excellent driving record are required.
- Physical Requirements
Qualified applicants must possess each of the following: the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly, the ability to work in a crouched position for extended periods of time, the ability to work outside in varying weather conditions, and the ability to effectively communicate with the public and other employees
