Description:

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga College of Engineering and Computer Science invites applications for Lecturer in Computer Science. This is a full-time, 9-month non-tenure-track position starting August 1, 2024.

This position will require teaching in-person and/or online computer science courses at the undergraduate or graduate level. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills and a solid commitment to innovative teaching methods, both traditional and technology enabled. Demonstrated interest in computer science and online education programs is expected. College-level teaching experience and/or industry experience is preferred.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering offers degrees at the BS, MS, and PhD levels as follows:
  • BS degree in Computer Science
  • Concentrations: Software Systems, Data Science, Cyber Security
  • BSCpE degree in Computer Engineering
  • MS degree in Computer Science
  • Concentrations: Computer Science, Data Science, Cyber Security
  • PhD in Computational Science, Computer Science concentration
Qualifications:

A successful candidate will possess the following requirements:
  • MS or a higher degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
  • Strong industry experience in computer science, information technology, cyber security, or a closely related field.
  • Ability to teach introductory/advanced courses in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Systems, and Data Science
  • Strong interest in working with students.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in professional service and community engagement activities.
  • Willingness to engage in a variety of instructional modalities, including online instruction.
  • Ability to assist in the accomplishment of University, College, and departmental goals and strategic plans.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
