JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Licensed Practical Nurse will provide nursing support for the psychiatrist and resident physicians in the Graduate Medical Education outpatient setting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assist psychiatrist and internal medicine residents with day-to-day patient schedules.
  2. Obtains patient vitals and brief health history, enters data into electronic medical record (EMR), and administers injections under physicians’ orders.
  3. Assist physicians/residents with procedures.
  4. Prepares exam and treatment rooms with equipment and supplies.
  5. Communicates with patients on treatment advice via phone or secure messaging system.
  6. Triages patient phone calls and communicates with physicians any findings outside of established protocols,
  7. Assists with streamlining Telehealth appointments, medication reconciliations, and manages desktop messages for residents.
  8. Completes medical leave paperwork including FMLA and disability.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Graduate of approved Vocational Nursing program. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience in outpatient medicine. Experience with psych and internal medicine is preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current licensure as Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) required and CPR certification. (CERTIFICATION REQUIRED)

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical vocabulary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse population.
  • Ability to successfully navigate an EMR system.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage time.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may be occasionally required to work evenings and early mornings due to extend hours of the clinic.
