VCU's Payroll Services Department has an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Specialist, International to join our team!

Position Summary:
- Manage and monitor Nonresident Aliens and Resident Alien databases.
- Monitor tax withholdings, residency status and tax exemptions for both NRA and Resident Aliens
- Generate and prepare for approval IRS tax exemption and withholding forms within required deadlines.
- Work with Student Accounting to ensure proper taxes are withheld on scholarships issued to Nonresident Aliens.
- Review Personnel Action Form for keying accuracy.
- Determine appropriate pay adjustments by analyzing and processing retro payments and other payments as necessary.
- Consult with the supervisor regarding unusual pay adjustments and overpayments.
- Review payroll edits and other various reports to determine and correct inaccurate pay data following university policy and procedures.
- Advise manager on issues preventing payment to employees.
- Respond to customer inquiries in a professional manner, exemplifying quality customer service practices. Maintain good rapport with external and internal customers and demonstrate respect of customer's privacy.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate or undergraduate degree with emphasis on bookkeeping or accounting or combination of college and/or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing with employees of various levels with the University.
- Ability to use office automation software, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
- Prior experience in International payroll operations to include F1, J1, H1B, and other various visa types.
