Assistant Stone Mason
Job Description
Reporting to the Stone Mason Lead, the Assistant Stone Mason will assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance activities associated with Hokie Stone building envelops and site walls to maintain the structural integrity of those systems and components. The Assistant Stone Mason will also assist with scaffold erection.
Required Qualifications
Ability to communicate effectively, work as an effective team member, and receive and execute instructions from the immediate supervisor and/or lead worker.
May be required to work additional hours/shifts to meet the needs of the department.
This is a designated emergency personnel position.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience laying rubble and dimensionally sawn stone in barrier and cavity wall construction configurations.
Related experience in a large commercial or educational setting.
Experience erecting scaffolding.
Experience operating man lifts.
Experience operating Lulls (all-terrain forklift).
Experience laying CMU and brick.
Experience fabricating flashing components for barrier and cavity stone walls.

Additional Information
This position is designated as “Emergency Personnel” and must be available as situations warrants for response to after-hours calls.
Must wear employer-provided uniforms as instructed by supervisor or lead.
Occasional use/wearing of a respirator will be required.
Must have annual health and safety medical check.
As situation dictates, must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
