Fiscal Technician
Job Description
The College of Architecture and Urban Studies (CAUS) is seeking a Fiscal Technician to support the administrative, financial and research functions of the School of Visual Arts (SOVA) and Myers Lawson School of Construction (MLSoC). This position will report to the college Business Manager with reporting lines to the Business Managers for each of the two schools and is responsible for basic fiscal support. This position is responsible for adhering to policies and procedures that will culminate in a successful internal compliance audit. Areas of responsibility include purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel arrangements and reimbursements, processing wage appointments, and maintaining documentation for audit purposes and for monthly reconciliation of all funds. The position also may assist with select administrative duties that support daily operations.
Required Qualifications
Previous experience in a bookkeeping, accounting, or fiscal position. Experience using databases for financial and/or human resource operations. Knowledge of general accounting principles and procedures. Demonstrated proficiency with current office computer software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook/Google. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to write and edit professional communications such as memos and emails; maintain confidentiality; create and manipulate financial spreadsheets and reports in Excel; audit, reconcile, and detect errors, inconsistencies or discrepancies; and produce work meeting deadlines and with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to use independent judgment and decision-making and work autonomously within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or related field and/or equivalent combination of education, certifications, training and experience. Strong working knowledge of state and university purchasing, travel, HR, and payroll policies and procedures. Experience with HokieMart, Banner Finance, Web Reports, MicroStrategy, corporate purchasing cards, and VT Foundation funds
