Fiscal Technician
Job Description
The Honors College invites applicants for the Fiscal Technician position. This is a new position and areas of responsibility include reconciling monthly financial statements, placing orders, timely processing of invoices to ensure compliance with prompt pay standards, assisting faculty and staff with making travel arrangements and processing reimbursements, processing Calhoun undergraduate fellowships, monitoring the use of financial resources, and managing record retention. Additionally, this position provides administrative and clerical support for the Dean’s Office as well as assist with planning and coordinating CDP related student-centered and donor events/activities.
Required Qualifications
•Experience providing fiscal and/or administrative support in an academic or professional office environment.
•Proficient with current office software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
•Must have the ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures.
•Ability to work independently and in a team environment to handle complex projects, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
•Must be able to maintain professional communications and interactions with students, faculty, staff and other entities within and outside the university.
Preferred Qualifications
•Associates and/or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or related field, or equivalent level of training and experience.
•Working knowledge of basic accounting and purchasing principles and processes.
•Experience with Virginia Tech systems such as Banner and HokieMart.
•Working knowledge of university organizational structure, policies, and procedures.

Salary Information
Commensurate with experience.
