Housekeeping Worker
Job Description
Attends to housekeeping needs by ensuring a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in the Student Engagement and Campus Life facilities. Maintains established standards of cleanliness and sanitation in student lounges, offices, lobbies, stairs, restrooms, showers, windows, and other venues as assigned. Duties include floor maintenance, dusting, gathering and removal of trash, snow and ice removal from entranceways and sidewalks, raking leaves and gathering trash from areas near buildings. Maintains and replenishes supplies in assigned areas. Responsible to wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times, as well as report any facility repairs or needs to management. Operates powered and manual cleaning equipment; mixes chemicals with proper proportions from established guidelines. Responsible for the care and handling of Custodial Operations supplies, equipment, and assigned keys. Occasionally supports Event Operations Staff in the preparation of events scheduled in reservable spaces in SECL facilities.
Required Qualifications
Excellent customer service and communication skills for interaction with employees, students, and visitors at a large university campus facility. Knowledge of commercial/industrial cleaning methods. Ability to work independently with little supervision; safely mix chemicals with proper proportions from established guidelines; operate both manual and electrically powered cleaning equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in cleaning of institutional or commercial areas.
