Rotational Finance Fellow
Job Description
The Rotational Finance Fellowship within the Vice President for Finance senior management area is a 12-month cross-departmental hands-on learning and development experience for recent graduates or those new to Higher Education Administration. The Fellow will be provided the opportunity to work closely with the finance and administrative units that report to the Vice President for Finance.
The Fellow will spend an assigned amount of time in rotations with different departments within the Vice President for Finance division (list below) and have the opportunity to work on specific projects and assignments that offer exposure to the central financial and administrative functions of the university. The Fellow will assist with special project assignments, including the development of correspondence, position papers, presentations, and business analyses. Project assignments will provide exposure to the central financial and administrative functions of the university and will provide the fellow with an excellent understanding of the university’s administrative processes. The Fellow will also serve as one of the representatives on the Vice President for Finance Inclusion & Diversity Committee and contribute to the Committee’s ongoing discussions, activities, and operations.
The Fellow will report through the Office of the Vice President for Finance and work in close collaboration with the managers within individual departments, which may include:
• Budget and Financial Planning
• Capital Assets and Financial Management
• University Controller
• Finance Information Technology
• Hokie Passport Services
• Procurement and Surplus Property
• Bursar’s Office
• Risk Management
The anticipated start date for the Fellowship is June 2021.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree; must have superb communication skills; excellent writing skills; the
ability to learn and understand complex issues within a multifaceted organization. Demonstrated competency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Must exercise excellent judgment when working with confidential and sensitive information. Ability to foster a positive dynamic and work collaboratively as a member of different teams throughout the year. Must be able to work independently and adapt to changing priorities on assignments as required.
